Q: Will yellow ink look not “bright enough” when printed on a white T-shirt? Is any special treatment required?
A: Yellow is inherently a high-lightness color, and when printed directly on white fabric, the visual contrast is lower than on dark fabrics. If higher brightness is desired, it is recommended to slightly increase color saturation during design, or use a double-print process (printing a white ink base first, followed by yellow) to enhance color density and gloss. This method is commonly used for brand logos or areas that require strong visual impact.
Q: Is banding or graininess likely to occur when printing light yellow or pale gradients?
A: Light color gradients are a key test of ink uniformity. Our yellow ink uses precise particle size control and advanced dispersion technology to effectively reduce graininess. If slight banding still appears, it is recommended to enable “micro-dithering” or “smooth gradient” functions in the RIP software and increase print resolution (such as adding more passes), which can significantly improve gradient smoothness.
Q: Is yellow ink more prone to fading under sunlight? How can its lightfastness be evaluated?
A: Among all colors, yellow is indeed more sensitive to UV exposure. To address this, UV absorbers and antioxidants have been added to the formulation, achieving a lightfastness rating of ISO 105-B02 Grade 4 or above (Blue Wool Scale). For everyday indoor wear, performance is reliable. For long-term outdoor applications (such as flags or outdoor apparel), periodic color inspection is recommended, and prolonged continuous exposure to direct sunlight should be avoided.
Q: Will yellow prints look “dirty” on dark gray or army green fabrics?
A: Yes, they can be affected. Yellow has relatively low opacity and is easily influenced by the substrate color on neutral dark fabrics, which may cause the color to appear dull or muddy. The solution is to always apply a white underbase, with the white layer extending approximately 1–2 mm beyond the edges of the yellow design, effectively isolating the fabric color and ensuring a bright, pure yellow.
Q: Can this yellow ink be used to create a “fluorescent yellow” effect?
A: Not directly. Fluorescent colors require special fluorescent pigments, while this product is a standard high-chroma yellow ink. For fluorescent effects, it is recommended to use dedicated fluorescent spot inks, or to simulate the effect through overprinting yellow with fluorescent green. Sample testing is advised in advance to confirm the final color result.
Q: If printed yellow appears to have a greenish cast, is it an ink issue or a settings issue?
A: In most cases, this is related to color management. Please check the following:
Whether the design file is in CMYK mode and the yellow channel values are clean and pure;
Whether the printer ICC profile matches the current fabric;
Whether the white underbase is sufficiently uniform and opaque.
